Rumours of Project Natal’s release date and pricing have being leaked by Microsoft on a recent tour of software studios in the UK.

Project Natal is Microsoft’s ace up the sleeve. It is a motion sensor device that plugs into your Xbox 360 and sits in front of your TV. It can detect full body motion in three dimensions and has facial recognition capabilities. In short teamed up with the right games this could change the gaming landscape.

You might think that such a device is going to be very expensive but it seems not. It was revealed that the device is going to be under £50, possibly even as low as £30. With a device that has so many more possibilities then a motion sensor capable remote control (like what the Wii uses and what is in development for the PS3) and a price tag this low, we could see a significant shift in balance of the game console market toward Microsoft.

November 2010 was also put forward for release date of the item which would make sense as they would want to capture the Christmas shoppers.

Project Natal is seen by Microsoft as an important evolution of the console. They hope that it will extend the life of the Xbox 360 to 2015 which is more then double the life span of a traditional console.

As the release date gets closer we will hopefully be able to see if Natal can really live up to the promises.
